Variations on (this) one frame (à la russe)

During a recent interview, I was asked to define what my work had gained (if anything) when, forced by health issues, I moved from natural media to the digital processes.
Immediately, the power of "Save As" came to mind, but that was closely followed by "time-remapping."
Indeed, I am constantly discovering how much can be done with so very little "source material," how a few seconds from one piece can become the core of another (through time-remapping and the likes) or, as is also very often the case in my work, how a whole piece can be shrunk to becoming a simple gesture in another one.

The digital medium also (above all?) opened up the gates of time for my work, something so fulfilling, I am often grateful to my ailing health for having made that possible.

This conversation stuck with me to the point of trying to take those thoughts to some extreme, resulting in this sketch, all done exclusively with a single frame pulled from my "DSCH" sketch: http://vimeo.com/51953896
(more stills from the same sketch are available here: http://visualmusic.ning.com/photo/albums/dsch-stills).
That frame is the one used as thumbnail for this piece, as well as being the background image of both the opening and closing credits.

"À la russe" because the music is an excerpt from Sergei Prokofiev's "Roméo et Juliette" (the Suite), music that I have wanted to indulge playing with for a very long time.

Kurt Masur here conducts the Gewandhausorchester of Leipzig, in a live concert recorded, in Leipzig, on September 27, 2012.
Kurt Masur is one of my favorite conductors, I have seen him at work several times over many years and each time, his joy and love for music, which he communicates to the orchestra, shines.
