The Visual Music Village

for Visual Music Artists, Writers, and Venues

This is another clip available on the "Taïga Maya" DVD (the audio is also on the CD http://www.taigamaya.com/).
In this clip, I used Studio Artist to modify some of the images in order to make it serve the narrative ("fear of life").
"Jaguar," another clip from that DVD is also on Vimeo: http://www.vimeo.com/29478079
Thierry Van Roy collected audio and video material from Yakutia and Mexico to create this "Music-Fiction," fusing it all in a seamless masterpiece.
Melanie Gabriel wrote and sung the lyrics (the great Anatoly Bournashev is also heard in that clip).
The "Taïga Maya" DVD shows some of the source material Thierry collected, which makes it obvious what an amazing feat this project is: most of "Taïga Maya" is "fabricated" and yet, it is utterly believable.
I remember once telling Thierry, commenting on the music of another "Music-Fiction" project of his ("The Black Slavics" http://tinyurl.com/6kz9ymr), that "it was amazing to feel sadness at the thought of the disappearance of a culture that never existed."
