for Visual Music Artists, Writers, and Venues
Solitude is something I am very familiar with, it's been the “space” from which my best work comes from, and this has been the case for a very very long time.
A while ago, I saw a video of Holland Baroque performing “Einsamkeit, Du Qual der Hertzen" (excerpt), composed by Johann Philipp Krieger (1649-1725, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Philipp_Krieger), with as soloists my friend and collaborator Marco Ambrosini (nyckelharpa, https://vimeo.com/showcase/4483478) and the magnificent soprano Dorothee Mields (http://www.bach-cantatas.com/Bio/Mields-Dorothee.htm).
This immediately became music I had to listen to with my eyes, and I am very grateful to Holland Baroque and VPRO for their kind permission to let me do so (and for their making available the high quality audio recording).
Here’s the concert video that started it all: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgkWJUCdhwk&list=LLDNaod842q_QPezYUqyi-dw&index=19&t=0s
