The Visual Music Village

for Visual Music Artists, Writers, and Venues

On a Mac, one can point the Screensaver to a variety of sources, including folders of images. I often do so with folders containing images pulled from my many movies and once in a while, I see interesting connections between the randomly selected images shown by the Screensaver and the music I happen to be listening to.
This is totally “accidental,” but given the fact that most of my work feeds on those “accidents” (and sets the conditions in which they can happen), I decided to do a sketch in which I would treat some of my still images in ways similar to the Screensaver’s, but in somewhat “intentional” connection with music this time.
The magnificent music is a movement from Arvo Pärt’s "Lamentate for Piano and Orchestra,” its "Fragile E Conciliante.”
It is performed with immense sensitivity by pianist Alexei Lubimov and the SWR Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Andrey Boreyko.

A while ago, I did another sketch with/for music by Arvo Pärt, it already imposed a very mellow and meditative approach, no room or need for flashy and/or conceptual tidbits in this: https://vimeo.com/54935417
