The Visual Music Village

for Visual Music Artists, Writers, and Venues

This is an image sequence done with QuickTime Pro 7.x (how could Apple ever contemplate ditching QuickTime?) done with a Facebook album of images extracted from the first of three versions done with/to/for Rameau’s Gavotte.
Here’s the FB album: https://www.tinyurl.com/yb76uzqy
Here are the three movies: https://vimeo.com/album/4759539
The way people reacted to the images in the FB album determined how those images were going to be used in building the image sequence (liked, if so how many times, used accordingly, not liked, images used once only).
I am building albums with images extracted from the three Gavotte movies, and the resulting image sequences will be used to create a fourth version of the Gavotte.
Stay tuned…

Using Facebook in ways a bit similar to how John Cage used the I Ching.
The last time I met him (early 80s), we parted remarking how much more satisfying work obtained “by accident” (or “unintentionally”) was to us when compared to intentional doing.
Many of the great ones knew/know this, “working-by-way-of-not-knowing” seems to be the way to go, when one restricts the possibilities to what one already knows, it is like working/living in a self-imposed prison.
The fallacy of most school-based education is to make students believe that once they know how to do “whatever”, it will be clear sailing forever after.
Ha!
