This is a sketch based on the second movement from Beethoven's String Quartet No. 1 in F major, Opus 18 No. 1, "Adagio affettuoso ed appassionato."

Coming out of the Shostakovich String Quartet No. 8 in C minor (Op. 110) http://vimeo.com/51953896, I needed some air while remaining in a rather somber mood.

Beethoven's string quartets have been with me for several decades, I don't think there is music "out there" that has taught me more about "the form" in visual art than those fabulous quartets have (all of them).

I do hope that life will grant me the privilege of having enough time to "do" the late quartets (am not getting younger).

Talking about "form," am still avidly exploring ways to create and modulate a video stream without resorting to "cartooning" (clear cut figure/ground differentiation), trying to "animate" the forest without succumbing to the false and facile "solution" of "animating trees."
And yet, without negating trees either...

This is my second sketch based on that recording, the first version (integrated in this second one) is here http://www.vudici.net/movies/Adagio/Adagio.html

The music was recorded during a live concert, in Vienna (on December 2, 2008), by the fabulous Artemis Quartet http://www.artemisquartet.com/
