The Visual Music Village

for Visual Music Artists, Writers, and Venues

This sketch is the second version of a piece that was supposed to be a silent video for a concert of music improvisation with images, done at the request of a composer friend.
As I often do, I picked a music I liked, one I never worked with/to, to be used as a temporary temporal structure.
But the power of Steve Reich's music ("The Four Sections") decided otherwise, it would not let go of me until I gave it what it required (my full and undivided attention).
Amazing music, amazing progression of energy, of intensity, gorgeous construction!.
I set images to/for movements 2, 3 and 4 "only," ending up with a file much longer than required (not regretting it whatsoever).
This is the third time I work with/to Steve Reich's music (first one was with Jean-Philippe Collard-Neven's transcription for piano and tape of Reich's "NY Counterpoint" http://vimeo.com/33697385, the first version of ths piece is here http://vimeo.com/39677281 ).

Once again, it felt like being home...

Music performed in concert (in Essen, on November 12th, 2011) by the Kölner Philharmonie, conducted by Kristjan Järvi.
