Abstract

A beautiful song sung by Rataj Kinga the aim was to work on the harmony of the colours fluctuating in its intensity using subtle transitions. Transitions that move from one area to another to the music.
Sound Sonification
An analytical structure of the song and their parts were recorded through various listening sessions and small sketches to ascertain various shapes and scale of the preliminary sound graphics. Rhythm, silence, density, space and volume are some of the perceptual attributes perceived.
Methodology
Detailed analysis of the song began with each part playing a few seconds where a composition or still graphic is expressed as a relationship between notes, pitch and loudness changing over time. The sound graphics are assigned colours and when the music played the graphics are made visible. A musical moment thus could be captured in colour and space in different directions parallel to the sound. Thought was given to sound played and the sound ahead to imagine the shapes for each still composition until its completion.
As with the music the intensity of the musical notes can be calming or exciting as heard towards the last section of the song attempting to equal this in the visuals.
In the video making the stills were composed to the music strip in sections numbering a number of seconds until the completion of the song.
For the purpose of making the video, three layers were made, for vocals, drums and piano solo and these were superimposed to give the final result of the video.
