Back in the land of animatedly living things, Mr. Woloshen is a Montreal-based film animator and a pioneer of drawn-on-film animation who has been making films since the late ‘70’s. Working in camera-less motion graphics since 1982, Woloshen uses scratches, paint on film, and repurposed found footage to create emotional content. Since 1999 he has worked exclusively in 35mm CinemaScope, an expensive format rare in the independent film world, which Woloshen maximizes by his otherwise thrifty means of production. His works have screened at festivals worldwide including the Montreal World Film Festival, Tampere International Short Film Festival, Annecy Animated Film Festival, Ottawa International Animation Festival, and I Castelli Animati in Rome.  Woloshen also recently published a wonderful how-to book explaining in detail all his tricks, entitled “Recipes for Reconstruction: The Cookbook for the Frugal Filmmaker” Be there.
