Visual Music at the "Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois"

Each and every year since 2007, the "Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois" have faithfully presented one or two films of mine.

This year, "The Tears of Mary" will be screened in the "Art et expérimentation" category, in the "Expérimental" programme (Sunday Feb. 24, 15:45 p.m., at the Cinémathèque québécoise, Salle Claude-Jutra).
It will be the first time I will have the opportunity to see it on the big screen, am very much looking forward to that.

The music of Oliver Schroer (1956 - 2008) reaches out to me in a very deep way. He had been classically trained and yet called himself a fiddler, not a violinist, explaining it this way: "my music does not come from my head, it comes from my belly and my feet."

Given my long standing disinterest (to say the least) in the conceptual and all things that seem to come from our "intelligence" only, I find Oliver's attitude very refreshing and feel it echoes what I have been trying to do in/with/through my own work for years.
