Event Description
Norman McLaren, whose Centenary we celebrate this year, founded the animation department of the National Film Board of Canada and established a production unit whose raison d'être is to create films with artistic vision and cultural significance. As such, it’s difficult not to claim that Canadian independent animation is indebted to McLaren’s philosophy and mentorship. In recognition of the indelible influence this Scottish born animator has had on film and animation universally, this medley of mainly Canadian movies reflects facets of McLaren’s career and personal life.
