for Visual Music Artists, Writers, and Venues
As curator of a show of video-based photography at one of the oldest US art colonies, the Rocky Neck Art Colony, Gloucester, MA, I would like to invite submissions for a show of printed and framed high quality animation stills, to be shown in January of 2014, possibly with a simultaneous show of the animations the stills are derived from at the Shalin Liu Performance Center, Rockport, MA. While I welcome the "liberation of the image from the frame" in visual music, I think that showing quality stills is a worthwhile endeavor, especially if the images can be shown together with the animations from which they stem.
Since shipping framed work is expensive and hazardous, I plan to have the work selected for the show framed locally. The work will be for sale; unsold work will be returned in print form.
Because this is a venture dependent on fund raising that involves two art institutions, this call is a preliminary call rather than an official invitation to partipate. I would like to assemble a repertory of work from which to select. You can see examples of my work on this site, however, my pieces are not models, just examples: I would like to show a wide variety of work very different from my own.
If interested in this venture please send me the following to otto@interdevelopmentals.org :
Once you let me know that you are interested in sending me jpgs (and later prints, to be framed locally), I will keep you in the loop for this adventure.
Many thanks for your interest and Happy New Year!
Otto Laske
