We couldn't have been more pleased about the turnout and discussion at our first revitalized salon in October! In conjunction with the UCLA Design | Media Art Department, iota will hold another salon on November 19th in the Broad Art Center on campus, first floor at the EDA screening space.
At the iotaSalon, we get together to screen and discuss new experimental works alongside some classics. The theme for this screening is RHYTHM. What informs an artist's choices in regards to rhythm, and how are those choices communicated in their works? How do they communicate the relationships between musical rhythm and visual rhythm, and how do these two intersect?
Currently, the schedule includes
Screening on 16mm as part of the historic film segment:
Mood Contrasts (1956) - Mary Ellen Bute
Luma Nocturna (1974) - Sky David
Rumble (1975) - Jules Engel
Screening on video for the contemporary segment:
Velocity (2002) - Iconish and Foraudiofans
Rorschach (2003) - Debralee Shelby
8.1 (2005) - Oerd Van Cuijlenborg
Fleshtones (2006) - Phil Souper
Runa's Spell (2007) - Stephanie Maxwell
Respect for Red and Green (2009) - Neil Ira Needleman
