The Visual Music Village

for Visual Music Artists, Writers, and Venues

A documentary work in progress that focuses an appreciative eye on the increasingly popular, vivaciously spirited, aquatic art freakshow that is the Coney Island Mermaid Parade. 15 consecutive years of film and video were shot of this annual celebration of the summer solstice and the main event each year in Brooklyn, New York's people's playground, Coney Island. Edited by Jim Romaine.

Thank you for this wonderful dose of sweet nostalgia. I was born and raised in dear old Brooklyn and spent many happy hours/days/weeks/months in and around Coney. I'm due for a visit to the Aquarium and a ride on the Cyclone (wish the Tornado and Thunderbolt were still around)...and a real Nathan's hot dog. (Gettin' hungry here!)
