DESCRIPTION:(apologies for cross-postings)\n\nSeeing Sound - UPDATE\n\
 npractice-led research symposium, 19th/20th September 2009\n\nBath Spa
  University (UK) will host an informal two-day symposium exploring a b
 road range of multimedia work highlighting the relationship between so
 und and image. Areas such as visual music, abstract cinema, experiment
 al animation, lumia, cymatics, live audiovisual performance and releva
 nt installation work will be examined and explored.\n\nThe event is pl
 anned as an informal networking event, with the primary purpose of fos
 tering a visual music community in the UK and beyond. It will feature 
 paper and poster sessions, live performances and film/video screenings
  and will take place at the University's beautiful Georgian parkland c
 ampus in Bath.\n\nWe are currently inviting applications to attend the
  event - attendance will be free of charge*, but places are strictly l
 imited. A finalized programme will be publicised very soon, but here a
 re some salient points:\n\nThe event will run 12:30 - 6:00 on Saturday
  19th and 11:00 - 4:00 on Sunday 20th, with an additional live perform
 ance at 7:30 pm on the Saturday (times subject to minor revisions). Lu
 nch and refreshments will be included.\n\nOur provisional programme in
 cludes presentations and performances from, amongst others (and in no

 Spa University\n\nThe event will also include extensive screenings of 
 visual music works, many of which are rarely shown. We will be featuri
 ng 16mm programmes of Oskar Fischinger and Mary Ellen Bute (early visu
 al music) works courtesy of the Center for Visual Music, and will also
  be screeing Nam June Paik's Global Groove courtesy of Electronic Arts
  Intermix. In addition we will be including many visual music and rela
 ted works by contemporary artists.\n\nA finalized programme will be av
 ailable in the next few days.\n\nReservations can be made in the first

 ntary contribution of £20/£10 concessions will be invited to help us
