Peter Wallach was the director of special effects and hired me to assist in the shooting of 35mm time-lapse of the deconstruction of the lower Manhattan model fabricated out of Ikea boxes. The time-lapse was played in reverse to give the appearance of the city constructing itself. The footage was designed to work as a match dissolve to actual time-lapse of the real lower Manhattan which we also shot on 35mm film from the same camera angle which was shot before the miniature stop motion/time-lapse could begin. We also shot the time lapse of the Ikea store facade.
Music is "The Kingdom of Nye" by The Woggles.
Here is a link to the finished spot.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1noMT7aeYpg&feature=related "Art Is" (SVA 50th Anniversary) tag:visualmusic.ning.com,2011-09-22:2232935:Video:33126 2011-09-22T23:54:11.429Z Robert Lyons http://visualmusic.ning.com/profile/RobertLyons

An un-commissioned film graphic test that I shot for The School of Visual Arts, 50th Anniversary, "Art Is" campaign. This was the first and only test, shot while I was working there as a media arts professor during the 1990's. It was paid for out of my own pocket. The opening photomation images were all from a book called "SVA Gold, 50 years of Creative Graphic Design", a collection of poster ads for the school by famous artists and designers. They were shot on an Oxberry animation stand as a series of zooming lap dissolves and the super imposed quotes also came from the posters. I ended the piece with a motion graphic of the school's 49/50 logo rolling over and a zoom into the circle of the zero in the 50. That worked as a reveal for time lapse footage that I shot through a fish eye lens with a Bolex camera, of the various media arts production spaces at the school.
The Music is "Flower Power Maximum" by Cracker
