The Visual Music Village

for Visual Music Artists, Writers, and Venues

Fazil Say is a fascinating musician (pianist/composer), one of the few genuine humanists alive today.
His music has been talking to me for years, and has become truly essential for me since discovering a version of his immense Nazim Oratorio subtitled in English (visible here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e32iN2rmUXs#t=32). Like other great people, Fazil Say has been able to attract the collaboration of magnificent artists, as in his work with Serenad Bağcan, forming a superb duo (beautiful examples here: http://tinyurl.com/o22xgvm).
I’ve wanted to do a sketch with/for/to/from Fazil Say’s music for quite some time, and when I discovered a recording of a concert he gave in Liège (my hometown) in Belgium, and during which he performed one of my favourite pieces of his, “The Black Earth,” I knew I had found the right music for me to listen to with my eyes.
So here it is, my meagre tribute to a great man, a bright light in this world, not “just" in the world of music: to Fazil Say, with all my gratitude.
