The Visual Music Village

for Visual Music Artists, Writers, and Venues

Another film with music magnificently interpreted by Paola Erdas.
The previous one, "La Folia," is also available here on Vimeo.

Attempting to make visible what Paola's playing evokes in me, navigating that sensitive and elusive space between being "too close to" and "too far from" the music.

The music by Luis de Narváez (Diferencias sobre "Guardame las vacas").

Available on Paola Erdas' CD "CABEZÓN, LA TECLA DE L'ALMA" (ARCANA A 357)

This film premieres at the "Rendez-Vous du Cinéma Québécois" (Feb. 29, 2012, Montréal, Québec):

Love this work... fluidity and expressiveness. What is the process of making this work? Thank you. -Ying

Thank you Ying, I only saw your kind comments today (May 12), hence the late reply.

It started from video clips created with/from many still images (digital photos).

Those were assembled using various applications (Studio Artist, Painter, Stll Life and Final Cut Pro). The results were really reworked in many ways, not just complex compositing video layers, but getting into serious time remapping, again taking the results to Studio Artist and bringing that back into Final Cut Pro for further editing via compositing/time remapping.

Best,

Jean
