Deep Purple Concert Johannesburg 2010 May 28
Live Gig Drawings – Fine Arts- Visual Music Abstract Art
Deep Purple gave a show of welcomed rude awakenings and a loud night.
Their music always brings to the fore sparks of potent energy, speed and light.
Which means that all boundaries disappear, there is no time, movement or space
or limitations in perception.
Guarded by two Zulu’s my sense antenna's kicked off in dimmed light with
Impressions recorded with hands, chalks and a roll of paper, to the incredible
opening song "Highway Star". Having memorized the placement of the colors I
knew which ones to use for which "take off" or change in direction.
I was not alone when I realized that a bystander waiting in line at the men’s loo,
appeared out of nowhere, lifted the roll of paper leaving me no choice but to
continue filming to our own rhythm. This flirting duet was an interesting diversion.
All in all nothing beats drawing live during a concert when music and art
layers become compressed into one unit. A beginning before the beginning,
or as Deep Purple sing "Before Time Began".
